Kenny Owen and his wife Yolanda continue to adhere to the values that have always been the hallmark of the family butcher's business, established in 1925 by Kenny's grandfather, John D. Owen, with traditionally hung meats and a wide selection of local produce.
But this doesn't mean that time has stood still.
From the bright and attractive deli-style premises in the town's Victoria Street, Kenny and Yolanda continue to sell the very best quality Scottish beef, lamb, pork and chicken along with artisan Scottish cheeses and a delicious range of accompaniments including chutneys, pickles, Galloway honey, their own home cooked meats, olives and antipasti - everything you would expect from a quality deli counter.
John D Owen & Son's award-winning burgers simply have to be tried too, with flavours such as lamb and mint or Beef and Caramalised Onion to tempt the tastebuds and all freshly made on the premises using only the finest quality cuts of meat. No wonder they're award winners!
And don't forget sausages! John D Owen & Son have been making sausages for 95 years to pretty much the same recipe. Choose from Traditional Pork or Beef, Chicken, Venison or a variety of new-style flavoured sausages including the very popular Sweet Chilli & Irn Brew!
Open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4pm (takeaway 7am) and on Saturdays from 8.30am to 1pm (takeaway 7am).
